PPF concerned over attacks on Radio Station in Colombia

Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), in a letter to Iván Duque Márquez, President of Colombia has expressed concern over the third attack on the headquarters of RCN Radio in Bogotá, capital of Colombia on November 8.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali has called on the Colombian government to thoroughly investigate the matter and hold those responsible for attacking the radio station. PPF also urged to provide security to the journalists.

According to Inter American Press Association (IAPA), video recording by RCN shows the assailants throwing stones and firebombs on the front wall of station’s building and the officers who were protecting the station.

The station was attacked during the protest demonstrations organized by Bogotá students, demanding an increase in the budget for public institutions.

In another incidents on October 11 and 17, demonstrating students attacked offices of RCN in Bogota, damaged the headquarters and disrespected the journalists.
