PPF condemns arrest and isolation of journalist in Venezuela

Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), in a letter to Juan Guaidó, Acting President of Venezuela has expressed concern over the arrest of journalist Luis Carlos Díaz.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali, has urged the government of Venezuela and concerned authorities to stop targeting working journalists in the country and provide safety and security to the journalists and media workers.

According to the Inter American Press Association (IAPA), Díaz working at Caracas radio station Unión Radio Noticias and a human rights activist was arrested by the officers of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (Sebin) on March 11.

Sebin also raided the residence of journalist and seized four mobile phones, three laptops and a hard disk.

Diaz, who is a Venezuelan and Spanish national was detained overnight and later released on March 12.
