PPF condemns murder of radio journalist in Mexico

Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to Andrés Manuel López Obrador, President of Mexico has expressed deep concern over the murder of journalist Rafael Murúa Manríquez, director of Radio Kashan FM portal.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in his letter, has condemned this vicious murder of a journalist and urged to immediately investigate the matter to find out the motive behind the murder. PPF also called on the authorities to hold those responsible for this brutal murder.

According to Inter American Press Association (IAPA), on January 20, the dead body of Manríquez was found in Baja California Sur, Mexico with several bullet injuries on the chest.

Manríquez, the resident of Santa Rosalía in the Mulegé municipality in Baja California Sur was missing since January, 19.

The journalist in past had received threats and since 2016 he was under the safety program of the Procedure of Protection for People Defending Human Rights and Journalists.

In November 2018, Manríquez complained that after criticizing the mayor of Mulegé, Felipe Prado Bautista he had received threats.
