PTI workers attack Geo News van, reporters, abuse anchorperson FAISALABAD: A Geo News digital satellite news gathering (DSNG) van was severely damaged in an attack by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers with stones and sticks at Chowk Ghanta Ghar and Samandari Road, Faisalabad, on Monday. The PTI activists also abused Geo News anchorperson Maria Memon, reporters Irfanullah and Hammad Ahmad and threw sticks at them when they were performing their duty to cover the Tehreek-e-Insaf protest in Faisalabad. Infuriated PTI workers wrote various anti-government slogans on the van body with spray guns. At Chowk Ghanta Ghar, Maria Memon was conducting a live programme with reporter Hammad Ahmad when the protesting PTI members started shouting anti-Geo slogans and threw sticks at the anchorperson. They also tried to damage Geo News’ other vehicles at the same place. Also, when reporter Irfanullah was going to the Novelty Bridge for coverage of the protest there, the PTI activists besieged the Geo News DSNG van at the Samandari Road. They wrote different irrelevant slogans on the vehicle with spray guns. They also harassed the reporter and other crew. However, later on the van driver succeeded in taking the van away from the scene. Our Kasur correspondent adds: Journalists of Kasur Monday condemned the attack on the Geo team in Faisalabad. They called upon the authorities concerned to take steps to protect journalists who were performing their duties.
