A mob attacked the team of ARY News‘ investigative program Sar-e-Aam while they were conducting a sting operation against an electricity theft network in Lyari, Karachi.
Anchorperson Iqrar-ul-Hassan and his crew were targeted with scalding water laced with chili powder. Despite the presence of law enforcement, the violence escalated. Although Hassan and his team narrowly avoided serious injuries, a K-Electric employee sustained wounds during the attack and was transported to a hospital for urgent medical care.
K-Electric condemned the assault, stating that the attack was carried out by miscreants aiming to disrupt ongoing efforts to combat power theft. A KE spokesperson emphasized that the teams were forced to withdraw from the scene to protect themselves from further harm.
