The Sindh Information Department appointed Saeed Memon, Deputy Director of Information (BS-18), as the Secretary of the Sindh Commission for the Protection of Journalists and Other Media Practitioners (SCPJMP).
In a notification dated January 16, the information department announced that Memon, currently working as the deputy director in the District Information Office Thatta, would be transferred and posted as Deputy Director (BS-18) at the Directorate of Legal, Information Department, Karachi.
He was also permitted to work as the Secretary of the SCPJMP.
The SCPJMP was established under the Sindh Protection of Journalists and Other Media Practitioners Act of 2021 in November 2022.
Saeed Memon’s appointment comes after Aijaz Memon, a retired secretary, was appointed Chairperson of the Commission on December 4, 2024. This leadership transition took place after Justice (retd) Nazar Akbar resigned. Justice (retd) Akbar became the chairperson following the demise of the previous chairperson, Justice Rasheed A. Razvi.
