PPF condemns attack on the house of journalist in Serbia

Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF), in a letter to Aleksandar Vučić, President of Serbia has expressed concern over the attack on the residence of Zig Info editor Milan Jovanovic in Belgrade suburb, capital of Serbia.

PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali denounced such attacks on journalists and called on the authorities to immediately investigate and hold those responsible for attacking the residence of Milan Jovanovic.

According to South East European Network for Professionalization of Media (SEENPM), unidentified persons burnt the house of Jovanovic and fired shots at the door of house to stop the family from leaving the home.

On December 12 at around 3:00 am a Molotov cocktail was thrown inside from the window, leaving the house completely burned, the journalist’s car and furniture everything burnt down.  Jovanovic sustained minor injuries and was immediately taken to hospital for treatment.

Zeljko Matorcevic, editor of Zig Info stated that he and Jovanovic both received threats several times.

This is not the first attack on the journalists of Žig info. In October, Željko Matorčević, the editor-in-chief of the news portal was also assaulted.
