Pakistan Press Foundation (PPF) in a letter to Muhammadu Buhari, President of Nigeria, expressed concern over the arrest journalist Jacob Onjewu Dickson.
PPF Secretary General Owais Aslam Ali in his letter urged the government of Nigeria to drop all criminal charges against Dickson and release him immediately.
According to Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), Dickson, a reporter for the news website Authentic News Daily, was charged with incitement and held in custody at the Kaduna State Police station for writing a news report that cited witnesses as saying youths had pelted the state governor with rocks as he tried to broker a peace between residents of two adjacent neighborhoods. His trial is scheduled to begin on May 12.
