KU admin goes wild, journalists beaten, held hostage

KARACHI: (Dunya News) – Karachi University (KU) administration on Monday went wild as the female students protested against student body Islami Jamiat-e-Tulaba’s (IJT) highhandedness. As the media covered the protest, the admin went wild and started beating up the journalists covering the story. After assaulting the media, the security officer held the journalists hostage for four hours. Vice Chancellor (VC) of KU has set up a 3-member committee to investigate the matter, reported Dunya News.

According to details, the students were protesting against the Jamiat for assaulting them on Sunday in KU. As the students raised slogans against the admin outside the Admin Block, Security In-charge of the university, Muhammad Zubair, stopped the media from covering the event, banning media’s entry into the university.

When media tried to cover the incident inside the university without the cameras, administration assaulted them and tore the clothes of a journalist belonging to a private TV channel.

VC has set up a 3-member committee to investigate the incident. The committee will present its report within 3 days.

Despite VC’s orders, Muhammad Zubair and the administration closed all the doors of the university and held the journalists hostage. The journalists were held hostage be the administration for four hours, after which Registrar Moazzam Ali Khan and other teachers escorted them out of the university under their supervision.
