Mohammad Umer, father of journalist Mohammad Khan Sasoli died trying to get justice for son. His killers remain at large even after six years. Sasoli was murdered by unknown motorcyclist assailants in the evening of December 14, 2010 at Khuzdar district of Balochistan, Pakistan.
Sasoli the president of Khuzdar Press Club correspondent of Royal TV and daily Balochistan Express was shot with four bullets in his head and chest while going back to home from press club after performing his duty.
Police had registered case on behalf of state with crime number 271/2010 against “unidentified killers” under Section 302, 34, of Pakistan Penal Code and 7 Anti Terrorism Act. According to Police different police parties were formed to trace the killers but they could not apprehend any accused even after three years.
Resultantly police sealed the case on March 18, 2013 due to no clue about the killers and case will be reopened once any accused is apprehended by them. It has been six years but police is still clueless about the murderers of the journalist.
Inspite of the fact that Anti Terrorism Act (ATA) 2007 was introduced for speedy trial and rapid justice to the victims and their families but even having ATA section in Sasoli’s case; Police did not submit the Challan (investigation report) in the Anti Terrorism Court.
According toSasoli’s close relative Mohammad Adil, that police personnel had visited them few times for investigation into the case and they asked family to provide any evidence about killers who were involved in the case.
He told that old age father of Khan used to weep while remembering his son and kept asking for the justice but at the end he died without receiving justice.
General Secretary of Khuzdar Press Club Wahid Shahwani told that former Chief Minister of Balochistan made various announcements of providing jobs and compensation to the heirs of slain journalist but those promises never come true.
