PBC constitutes ‘Journalists Defence Committee’

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Bar Council (PBC) has constituted “Journalists Defence Committee” for providing free legal assistance and services to journalists and/or their elected bodies in the courts of law.

In a press statement, issued by PBC general secretary on Tuesday, in view of the prevailing policies of the government undermining the freedom of expression through a draconian cyber crimes law, particularly, making it increasingly difficult for the journalists to discharge and perform their journalistic duties independently and in accordance with demand of their professional obligations and journalistic practices, Abid Saqi, vice-chairman, PBC, has constituted a “Journalists Defense Committee” consisting of advocates, Barrister Jahangir Jadoon, (0333-5209511), Muhammad Usman Warraich (0300-4252696), Col Inamur Reheem (retired) (0322-2998691), Sajid Tanoli (0332-5476797), Baber Hayat Samoor (0321-5278614), Umer Gillani (0301-5011568), and Haider Imtiaz (0323-5423199).
