Politicians condemns filing of case against ‘SAR-E-AAM’ team LAHORE/KARACHI: Prominent politicians of Pakistan registered their protest over filing of case against ARY News investigative journalism program SAR-E-AAM, ARY News reported. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Ismail said that Minister of Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique should resign from his post after the incident. Awami Muslim League (AML) chief Sheikh Rasheed was of the view that SAR-E-AAM team should be lauded after exposing the corruption and negligence. Former senator Baber Awan while talking to ARY News said that freedom of expression is a basic civil right protected by constitution, no case can be registered over the exercise of such a basic right. Other politicians and prominent leaders expressed concern over the loophole in railways security which can allow illegal arms transportation. Two of the investigative journalism team members were also arrested by police after inhumane torture. Background The team of whistle blowing program, Sar-e-Aam hosted by Iqrar-ul-Hasan caught the railway officials red-handed in taking bribes to trade illegal weapons to other cities via train.
