Jehan Pakistan sacks reporters, newsroom staff in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD—Urdu
newspaper Jehan Pakistan has fired four reporters and about seven newsroom
staffers in Islamabad.

An insider
tells JournalismPakistan.com that an administration official
phoned up the employees on Friday to inform them their termination letters were
ready for collection.

Eight years after
the paper rolled off the press, the management now reportedly plans to
have only an online edition.

Earlier in March,
the paper terminated about 12 employees, among them reporters and newsroom
staff.

The managers have
promised payment of all dues to those sacked on Friday, which includes
three-month wages.
